Abstract Art
What Abstract Art is to me.

I love abstract art. It tells its own story. And each viewer brings their own interpretation to the piece. With abstract art, there are no rules, there isn't a right way or a wrong way. The perspective can never be "off". Painting in an abstract way allows me to express what's inside without any limits, restrictions or rules, art is the one area that should be free of them.
To me abstract means free, through my work, I am not attempting to create anything found in reality, I am just creating.
I haven't always worked in abstraction. I've created many different pieces in other styles, and my work gradually evolved. I evolved. As my relationship with the paintbrush grew, my confidence grew, and so did my expression.
All my pieces are planned at first, I have an image in my mind, a colour palette and then, I let myself go free. I listen to music and allow my brush strokes to go where they feel they need to. In that moment, it's not me standing there at the easel. There's something bigger that takes over. My work is extremely emotive to me. It comes from deep within and is very personal. Each piece is a friend and tells its own story. The story is always personal, and I don't believe it's necessarily important for me to tell each painting's story. I think each painting and each viewer can have their own story. Everyone comes to a painting with their own life experience, their own highs and lows. I think it's important to allow the viewer to connect with a painting in their own way, without my story attaching to it. Let them have their own connection.
