What abstract art means to me
I love abstract art because it tells its own story, and every viewer brings a different interpretation to the work. There is no single right or wrong way to experience it. Painting abstractly allows me to express what is inside without limits, restrictions or rules—art should be the one place that is free of them.
To me, abstract means freedom. Through my work, I am not trying to recreate something found in reality; I am simply creating.
I haven’t always worked in abstraction. I have painted in many different styles, and my work gradually evolved as I did. As my relationship with the paintbrush deepened, my confidence grew, and so did my expression.
Every painting begins with a plan: an image in my mind and a colour palette. Then I let myself go. I listen to music and allow the brushstrokes to move where they need to. In those moments, something larger seems to take over.
My work is deeply emotive and personal. Each painting feels like a friend and carries its own story, but I don’t believe I always need to explain that story. Every viewer arrives with their own experiences, joys and difficulties. I want them to connect with the painting in their own way and create a story that belongs to them.
